About this book
Description
Finally, a “blue” oil with an aroma we can love! This product is NOT the high-thujone Tanacetum vulgare growing wild in the American Southwest (and elsewhere) and often warned against for use in aromatherapy. This ANNUAL tansy is a safe and mild anti-inflammatory with a delightfully fresh, honeyed apple scent.
Professional aromatherapy educator Kurt Schnaubelt extols this magnificent deep indigo oil for its anti-histaminic/anti-allergen properties. He suggests using it (applied to the solar plexus) in blends for asthma or diffusing it in blends for emphysema…blending Pine, Cypress and just a touch of this lovely Tansy Oil. He recommends a blend of three drops Helichrysum and two drops Tanacetum annuum diluted in carrier oil for any situation where the skin has been damaged…sunburn, radiation, etc. (This was the combination a friend used in a spray to recover from the effects of radiation treatments.)
Aromatherapist/herbalist Jeanne Rose states that Blue Tansy essential oil is a natural source of theophylline, a bronchodilator, which would explain its being recommended for difficult breathing. And many sources write of the link between childhood asthma and adult eczema and other dermatitis conditions.
This delightfully sweet-scented oil with its high azulene content would be a wonderful alternative to German Chamomile or Yarrow in skin care blends. For irritated skin, try blending it with Helichrysum. Please use in weak dilutions, it is more effective at levels (under 5%) than in stronger dilutions.
SHELF LIFE: Approximately 3 to 4 years after you open the bottle. Storing in the dark, refrigerated, and decanting half full bottles into smaller, full bottles will extend shelf life.
