What we ask of a product before it goes on sale, what we will not claim, and what we will not sell.
Our standards
Supernatural is a shop for daily staples and pantry foods. The name is a joke we like; the standard is serious. Natural is the promise most shops make. Tested is the one we hold ourselves to.
What we ask before a product goes on sale
- Every dose on the label. The amount of each ingredient per serving, stated plainly. We do not sell proprietary blends that hide how much of each ingredient you are getting.
- An independent lab result for the batch. A certificate of analysis showing that the product is what it says (identity), contains the stated amount (potency), and is within limits for contaminants such as heavy metals and microbes. For fish oil we also ask for oxidation values; for mushrooms, the beta-glucan result and whether the product is fruiting body or mycelium.
- Dates that matter. For foods that fade, such as olive oil and matcha, the harvest or production date.
Ask us for the certificate of analysis for anything you buy and we will send it. If a maker cannot provide one, the product does not go on our shelf.
What we will not claim
We will not tell you that anything we sell treats, cures or prevents a disease, or that it will make you live longer. No supplement has shown that. We describe what an ingredient is, what studies have measured, and where the evidence is thin, and we link to the sources so you can check.
What we will not sell
- Weight-loss formulas and fat burners.
- Pre-workout stimulant blends.
- Products sold on promises of reversing aging or curing illness.
Prices
The basics with the strongest evidence, such as magnesium, omega-3, fiber and creatine, are also among the cheapest. We would rather sell you three good staples than one expensive powder.
Food first
Much of what supports healthy aging comes from the kitchen, not a capsule. Our pantry shelf exists for that reason, and our guides say so when food is the better choice.
Your doctor comes first
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before starting a supplement if you are pregnant or nursing, take medication, or have a medical condition. Several herbs and supplements interact with common medicines, and each product page says so where it applies.
