Save the planet, one book at a time
Every printed book has a footprint — paper, wood, and the carbon of making it. We estimate it for each title, and at checkout you can plant a tree to offset your order.
How we measure it
For each book we estimate the paper mass from its recorded weight and size, then derive the wood used (about 2.5 kg of wood per kg of paper) and the carbon of producing it (about 1.3 kg CO2 per kg of paper, plus printing and binding). These are estimates, sourced from published paper-industry figures — not a precise per-copy measurement.
Planting a tree
At checkout you can add $1.50 to plant a tree. A maturing tree sequesters roughly 21 kg of CO2 a year — comfortably more than a typical book order’s footprint. We pool these contributions and direct them to reforestation. It’s always optional, and never added without your choice.
